Sara B. Neuman, DVM
Dr. Neuman is the head doctor of the Vinegar Hill Veterinary Group clinic. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Following graduation, she moved to New York City with her then future husband and colleague, and began practicing in the Lower East Side. Dr. Neuman lives in Brooklyn and decided to open a practice after falling in love with Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO area. Dr. Neuman’s veterinary interests include avian/exotic medicine and small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Neuman is currently living in the Prospect Heights area of Brooklyn with her husband, son Zachary, two perfect cats, Anna and Hank, and another cat, Walter.
Amy Adelman, DVM
Dr. Amy Adelman is originally from New Jersey, where she grew up with three brothers, two dogs, and many, many gerbils. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University. Following veterinary school, Dr. Adelman completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. She currently resides in Brooklyn with her husband (Mark), twin boys (Andy and Eli), two cats (Panda and Scout), and a Beagle mix (Sophie).
Danielle Palatt, DVM
Dr. Danielle Palatt is a native New Yorker. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Emory University in 2004. She then worked in public relations in Manhattan before going back to school at Hunter College for her veterinary sciences. Dr. Palatt received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University in 2011. Upon graduation, she completed a rotating one year internship in Emergency, Surgery, and Internal Medicine at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. Dr. Palatt lives in Park Slope with her dog Griffin and cat Violet. During her free time, Dr. Palatt enjoys cooking, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
Sheila McGettigan, VMD
Dr. Sheila McGettigan was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience from Penn State University and a Veterinary Medical Doctorate from The University of Pennsylvania. Dr. McGettigan spent several years practicing in Hoboken, NJ as well as several years in south Brooklyn before joining the team at Vinegar Hill Veterinary Group. Dr. McGettigan shares her home with two wonderful cats, Leroy Brown and Kitty Fantastic. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, travel, baking, and has recently started playing acoustic guitar. Dr. McGettigan enjoys cycling and is involved in several social sports leagues.
Austin Stein, DVM
Dr. Austin Stein is originally from Long Island New York, where he grew up with two younger brothers and a dog. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles California. Following veterinary school, Dr. Stein completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. He currently resides in Park Slope, Brooklyn with his fiancé Brittany and labradoodle Duke. In his spare time he enjoys going to the movies and going on adventures with his friends and family.
Sydney Warshaw, DVM
Dr. Sydney Warshaw was born and raised in Brooklyn. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Penn State (We Are!…) and her Veterinary Medical Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. Post graduation, she completed a rotating internship at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group. Her special interests include general surgery, dentistry, and exotic species. In her spare time, Dr. Warshaw loves to bake, crochet, and practice Muay Thai. She resides in Park Slope with her cat (Alvin) and dog (Loki) who she raised for Canine Companions for Independence.
Órlaith Carr, BVM&S MRCVS
Dr. Órlaith Carr is from Ireland but spent some of her childhood living in Japan and Connecticut. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and completed her veterinary studies at University of Edinburgh, Scotland, also earning membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. On completing her studies, she practiced in Greenwich, CT and is now excited to be in Brooklyn.
Sarah Gowda, DVM, CVA
Dr. Sarah Gowda, originally from Brooklyn, graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She started her veterinary career in shelter medicine at North Shore Animal League on Long Island. She then transitioned to house calls in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and eventually to general practice. She completed her certification in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute and is eager to incorporate eastern practices to her western medicine. Dr. Gowda enjoys running, music and exploring the city’s playgrounds with her daughter.
Jean, Head Vet-Tech
Jean graduated from Fiorello H.LaGuardia C.C. in 2001. Jean had always wanted to become a vet when she was a young girl, but life sent her in a different field. She worked for The Bank of New York for about 10 years. She decided one day she needed a change in her life. She packed up and went to Greece in an effort find herself. She did. Working days and going to school in the evenings paid off. Now you can find Jean doing what she loves best, caring for animals and her family. Jean was always surrounded with pets when growing up- dog, rabbits and birds. It is to no surprise that today she lives with two rabbits, three parrots, and three lovebirds. Jean also shares her life with husband Rick, son Alex, and daughter Abigail.
Helen, Head Receptionist
Helen graduated from Lehman College with a Bachelor in Health Service Administration. She lives in the Bronx with her daughter. As a child, Helen dreamed of one day being a veterinarian and is so happy to be working around animals every day. Her work is also in tribute to her beloved Yorkie who passed away at the age of twelve.
Bless lives in Brooklyn with a menagerie of animal companions: a 40-year-old turtle, a uromastyx, two cats, two dogs, two birds, and a tank of piranahs. She has had pets all her life and has been working with animals since 1997.
Laura has lived all over NYC and now has settled in Queens with her 3 amazing cats: Cassie, Tokyo, and Stewie (she would also like to give an honorary mention to her beautiful 4th cat Bella whom she recently had to let go due to Lymphoma) and her recent rescue: Bogie, a 4 year old Dachshund mix who stole her heart at a street fair. Laura has been in the pet care/veterinary field since 2003 and has stayed for a reason, it’s incredibly rewarding! Laura also loves reading, all music, classic movies and enjoying spending time with her family, friends, and boyfriend.
Alex has been in the animal field since 2005, and has been a receptionist at Vinegar Hill since 2015. She has a passion for animals and loves talking to people and learning new things. When she is not greeting you at the front desk, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, watching movies, going out to dinner, and just having a good time.
From the Bronx to Staten Island, Tanya is a born and raised New Yorker. While growing up, Tanya always wanted to be a veterinarian, but eventually decided being a technician is where her heart belonged. She has been in the field since 1996, when she began volunteering at animal hospitals, horse stables, and the Staten Island Zoo. She is passionate about the field of critical care (while working full-time at Vinegar Hill, she also fills in as an emergency/ICU nurse at local vet hospitals when needed) but also loves giving all of her patients lots of TLC and educating their families about their care. When not working, Tanya enjoys spending time with her daughters, with her three-legged cat Davey Jones, and being outdoors.

Vincent was born and raised in Brooklyn and is a self-proclaimed cat lover. He has always had cats since he was a child, and currently has three of his own. Vincent has been working with animals since 2005.
