Sara B. Neuman, DVM
Dr. Neuman is the head doctor of the Vinegar Hill Veterinary Group clinic. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Following graduation, she moved to New York City with her then future husband and colleague, and began practicing in the Lower East Side. Dr. Neuman lives in Brooklyn and decided to open a practice after falling in love with Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO area. Dr. Neuman’s veterinary interests include avian/exotic medicine and small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Neuman is currently living in the Prospect Heights area of Brooklyn with her husband, son Zachary, two perfect cats, Anna and Hank, and another cat, Walter.
Amy Adelman, DVM
Dr. Amy Adelman is originally from New Jersey, where she grew up with three brothers, two dogs, and many, many gerbils. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University. Following veterinary school, Dr. Adelman completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. She currently resides in Brooklyn with her husband (Mark), twin boys (Andy and Eli), two cats (Panda and Scout), and a Beagle mix (Sophie).
Danielle Palatt, DVM
Dr. Danielle Palatt is a native New Yorker. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Emory University in 2004. She then worked in public relations in Manhattan before going back to school at Hunter College for her veterinary sciences. Dr. Palatt received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University in 2011. Upon graduation, she completed a rotating one year internship in Emergency, Surgery, and Internal Medicine at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. Dr. Palatt lives in Park Slope with her dog Griffin and cat Violet. During her free time, Dr. Palatt enjoys cooking, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
Sheila McGettigan, VMD
Dr. Sheila McGettigan was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience from Penn State University and a Veterinary Medical Doctorate from The University of Pennsylvania. Dr. McGettigan spent several years practicing in Hoboken, NJ as well as several years in south Brooklyn before joining the team at Vinegar Hill Veterinary Group. Dr. McGettigan shares her home with two wonderful cats, Leroy Brown and Kitty Fantastic. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, travel, baking, and has recently started playing acoustic guitar. Dr. McGettigan enjoys cycling and is involved in several social sports leagues.
Sarah Gowda, DVM, CVA
Dr. Sarah Gowda, originally from Brooklyn, graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She started her veterinary career in shelter medicine at North Shore Animal League on Long Island. She then transitioned to house calls in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and eventually to general practice. She completed her certification in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute and is eager to incorporate eastern practices to her western medicine. Dr. Gowda enjoys running, music and exploring the city’s playgrounds with her daughter.
Helen, Office Manager
Helen graduated from Lehman College with a Bachelor in Health Service Administration. She lives in the Bronx with her daughter. As a child, Helen dreamed of one day being a veterinarian and is so happy to be working around animals every day. Her work is also in tribute to her beloved Yorkie who passed away at the age of twelve.
